Affordable Fall Haul

I haven't been too focused on shopping for clothes until the last week or so when the leaves and weather finally started to feel like fall weather in GA. But recently I started my fall shopping so I wanted to share with you what I picked up! I didn't want to wait until Monday to post this because things always sell out and I want y'all to take advantage of the current sales. I would love for you to subscribe to my new channel. I plan on making it a bigger focus for my upcoming content.

Affordable Fall Dress

fall blogger style, loft dress, loft sale favorites, affordable fall dresses
I've only had this dress for two weeks now and I've already worn it twice on the weekends! It's one of those pieces you can just throw on and look cute but be comfortable wearing it all day. Both times I've worn it I was out shopping and running errands for almost the entire day and switched from flats to boots and wore it out to dinner. I'm not sure if you can tell in these photos but I got a ton of questions on Instagram stories about my lip color so I'm also linking it below (shade is velvet teddy!). I think it's perfect for fall, and I just dap it onto my lips verse swiping for a more natural color.

The fit is slightly oversized but if you don't like a boxier fit I think it would be cute belted to give you more shape. I'm wearing a small petite and if you click on petite it's available in all sizes. I'm also wearing boots from last years NSALE but no worries, I found them available and at an even better price!

I'm linking some of my favorite Loft finds in the widget below. All items are 40% off BUT sale items are an additional 60% until 10/10!

This week is going to be a busy one. It's my Mom's birthday and our first wedding anniversary. I can't wait to share a special post with y'all on Friday!

NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE TOP 10

Nordstrom anniversary sale wishlist, Nordstrom anniversary sale, Nordstrom anniversary sale must haves

Here are my must have picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I'll explain later because I'm running late to work... haha!

This morning I had an unplanned early wake up that lead to a little too much extra time before work to peruse the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The next thing I knew I had 30 minutes to shower and leave so thank you for waiting it out for me to finish this post :)

My game plan for the sale was to shop online and pick up in-store, so I knew the items I wanted most were reserved for me in the store before I drove 30 minutes to my nearest Nordstrom. Normally, I got for new boots and a few little things here and there, but this year I wanted to focus on really good basics that I will get regular wear out of, like basic tops, a good pair of jeans, and comfy layers for work and the weekend.

I'm always cold at work year round, so I knew picking up a few different cardigans would be a good investment to my wardrobe and out of all the options  I ended up with these three. A must have for me this year is finally trying the Barefoot Dreams Circle Cardigan that always sells out while I contemplate the price tag, so this year there was was no hesitation other than deciding the color.

This isn't a piece that I normally go for but I was intrigued by the design and color and wanted to reserve it to try on. I'll let y'all know what I think of it when I get it.

My current comfy LBP is in serious need of tossing and this one with the ruffle detail will be the perfect replacement! Drop ruffle details can be a hit or miss with my hips, so I hope it fits! I can picture so many different outfits around the dress, so I'm excited to style it.

I wasn't expecting to get a new olive green coat because I have one but I've never been happy with how it fit on me, so I'm hoping this one is a more flattering cut and I wear it more because I think they are a fall staple.

I love the little bow tie sleeve detail on this otherwise boring plain white top (even though I can never have too many of boring white tops for work!).

Another Barefoot Dreams item I regretted not picking up last year. It's actually been in my cart ever since but I didn't want to pay full price when I knew the sale price in the back of my head! I don't neeeeeeed a new robe, but since I live in my $12 Tuesday Morning robe I thought I wanted to treat myself to this one.

The holy grail AG jeans... These are always one of the first things to sell out, so this year I wanted to see what all the fuss is about with these! I would never pay full price for them, and even the sale price is a little hard to swallow, but I'll let y'all know if they're worth it after I get to try them on. I ordered two sizes to be safe since I'm not familiar with how they fit.

Out of everything in my closet I get the most wear out of my basic tees, so I wanted to pick up a few of these to try at under $16. They look thicker than most I've seen, and I'm hoping that's a good thing! They will work perfectly under all the jackets and cardigans I ordered.

I also wanted to share the other items still tempting me and hanging out in my cart:

wasn't very tempted in the beauty department because most of the options we're large gift sets and unless I knew it was a product I already love I didn't want to spend more to get more. I did purchase this set because I love the scent of the deodorant and it lasts me forever. I think I buy like 2 a year somehow, it's crazy.

Anything I missed?? What's your favorite from the sale?!

How to wear a blanket scarf like a poncho

This season I think we've seen a revamp in the traditional blanket scarf. I haven't seen the big triangle looped scarves as much this season, but I have seen a lot more being worn like a poncho, so I thought I would give it a try.

The verdict?

Obsessed! And, it's super simple.

How to style a scarf like a poncho:

Fold your scarf in half, creating a triangle

Grab the two ends and drape them over your shoulder, leaving the triangle draped in the back

You can also fold the scarf in half, creating a rectangle and wrap yourself up in it, but I think folding it into a triangle creates more of a poncho look and stays a little better on your shoulders.

I love how this simple step completely changed up my plain gray piko top. I always buy these on sale at local boutiques because they're so comfy and I like how they're long enough to cover the booty with leggings but also drape nicely when I want to tuck the front into jeans.

On Friday, Tim and my family went out to the Avalon to finally celebrate my birthday after the snow and sickness delayed it a few weekends. We had dinner at El Felix, then shopped at Lululemon and the Banana Republic sale. I found a lot of great pieces I can't wait to style for the blog soon! I don't even want to count up how many ruffle detailed tops I bought in the last week 🙈.

On Saturday, we were expecting it to rain all day, but in the afternoon it cleared up so we went to HomeGoods and the mall to get out. We both ended up at My Fiore Boutique and bought this gray Piko top and blanket scarf on sale for $12. I had to do a little hunting, but I found one exact scarf on Poshmark if you're interested. I've been wearing the heck out of these distressed jeans because they're very comfortable, and we all know if I'm wearing pants it's because they're comfy 😜. They're currently sold out, but I found a similar pair at Nordstrom Rack from the same company.

It felt like a busy weekend, but it didn't feel very productive! Minus that big Falcon win! Hoping this week I get a little more blog work done. I have a ton of video footage to edit! Would you rather see how I curl my hair or how I do my blog makeup first??

Styling Over the Knee Boots

dolce vita over the knee boots, strawberry chic, OTK boots, fall fashion
I finally jumped on the over the knee (OTK) boot trend after finding these Dolce Vita Owin boots at the Saks Off Fifth outlet after Christmas. I previously had a pair of flat black OTK boots from Coach (I worked there for three years) but I ended up selling them on Poshmark because honestly, I felt like a pirate when I wore them. ðŸ˜œ

So it took me a while to jump back into the trend, but I'm always loving my friends on Instagram posting about them! I especially love them with winter dresses because they cover more of your leg to make it feel more appropriate in the cold weather. I probably didn't wear a dress on this date night because I was too lazy to pop some gradual tan on them, and the world is not ready for these bad boys :) I'm definitely a dress girl for all the comfort reasons but also I just feel more like myself in them. So look for more looks with these boots with dresses in the future!

Everything else I'm wearing is very affordable. My vest is old from Old Navy, but this style can be found at just about any store these days (linking a few options in the widget at the end). My casual top is from Target. I definitely recommend to let it air dry to avoid it shrinking up on you! I've learned the hard way in the past.

My legging jeans are pretty old from Abercrombie and Fitch, I can't believe they even still fit, haha! Goes to how just how stretchy they are ;) I think it's important to wear tight/skinny/jegging type pants when wearing boots in general. Bunching up just doesn't look as flattering to me!  If you love my watch, you can use code STRAWBERRYCHIC15 for 15% off your purchase at Daniel Wellington (I don't get a kickback or anything :)

I'm currently finishing this post as I watch last's night's episode of The Bachelor. I'm not going to lie, it's getting hard to watch. I definitely miss the Sean Lowe type Bachelor days...Tim and I decided to save the $50 a month and just get the internet which really hasn't been a huge adjustment after going 4 months without any of it. We use Apple TV to watch things later on, but I wish Bravo and E were both on it! If you don't have cable, what do you do to watch your favorite shows?

Random question, but do you prefer the text at the top like in today's post or bottom like it's always been??

Neon Beanie under $8

Strawberry Chic blog, affordable fall fashion, fall fashion on a budget
forever21 beanie, cheap fall fashion, Target finds, affordable fall sweaters

This beanie was definitely worth the line at Forever21 on a Saturday. It's neon pink and under $8, how could I put it down?! Although it's normally a sign that I've run out of dry shampoo, I've been reaching for a lot of hats and beanies lately, even with clean as can be hair! Without it, I think this outfit would be pretty boring, don't you think? In person, it's definitely more vibrant pink/coral than here in the pictures because I love my exposure 😜

Along with my affordable beanie, this sweater is quite the steal too at under $30. I've started to see more cut out shoulders around, so I think if it's not as big this season it will be even more popular next year. I also styled another cute Target sweater in this post

Tim and I have our hopes up to finally get set up with internet tomorrow. It's been a long 3 to 4 months (and a lot of data) without it! I know it's a first world problem to have, but we're both looking at it as our best Christmas gift after being told multiple times that so and so still needs to do this and that (we're in a new construction).

$27 Sweater from Nordstrom

sweaters under $50, Nordstrom sweaters, Strawberry Chic Blog
sweaters under $50, Nordstrom sweaters, Strawberry Chic Blog
This sweater was purchased the same day I bought this dress, and I loved how long it was because I
pictured it being so cute and comfy with leggings! I think fit wise it's supposed to be a bit slouchy, so I bought my normal size but think you can get away with sizing down, too. This color can somewhat change colors depending on the lighting, but online they call it mocha. I've also seen it have a purple tint and a grayer tint at times! After I saw Emily Gemma style it in her post yesterday I'm thinking about getting the black version, too!

You will probably get sick of me wearing these distressed jeans, but they are the absolute comfiest pair I own. I can't believe they're under $70! I do want to mention the distress on the knee actually has a layer of denim underneath, so if you like the look of skin showing through your distress this isn't the pair for you. I, however, love the idea because I tend to rip open the holes at my knee with my feet as I slip them on. This will prevent that and be warmer during these net few months!

Boots with the Fur

what to pair with a fur vest, styling fur, tory burch riding boots
Affordable Nordstrom Dresses, Fall Fur vest, affordable fur vest
Tory Burch riding boots, tory burch boots, Tory burch boots on sale
This bodycon dress from Leith was a little out of my comfort zone because it shows all my curves, but since Tim was a fan I put my hand on my hip and smiled for the camera 😜

I found it on the sale rack in Nordstrom, so it was one of those "I better buy it now and decide later" type of purchases. When I got home, I realized how versatile it would be because the sleeves are tight enough to easily slip under sweaters and I can always layer a fur vest over it when I'm worried I'm "doing the most" in the booty department, haha!

Another mention is these Tory Burch boots. They were originally a purchase for my Mom during the Black Friday sale; however, they were way too tall for her 5ft frame so we traded boots instead :) They're still on sale and available in all sizes as of this morning!

The weekend was cold and rainy so I couldn't shoot the holidays looks I had been planning for you guys :( The time change doesn't favor fashion bloggers who work full time, that's for sure!
