March Favorites

Maxi Dresses: This month I have been reaching for my maxi dresses because they are the perfect piece for this bipolar weather were having in Savannah. Just bring a cardigan and you'll be prepared whatever the weather decides to throw at you. Maxi's have always been my favorite because I always get cold inside restaurants && they are basically an acceptable// fashionable blanket for your legs. I'm definitely ready to add a few more to my closet soon!

Shapely Sunnies: I've been loving these not so dramatic cat eye sunglasses I've seen everywhere lately. This pair is just under 8$ (steal I know!).

Watch: Tim gave me a watch for our anniversary back in January, but it was way too big for my wrist so we took it back. I was wanting a two-toned watch that had a simple face.. so when we found this one it was love at first sight! It's also a lot lighter than my other watches, so its very comfortable to wear.

Griffin Stylus & Notability App: These two go right behind my watch for my favorite favorite of March. I've had the notability app for a while now, but recently I've gone completely print free with my notes and upload them all on here. Its very easy to use, and I love the coloring I can do to make my notes to make them pretty.. anything helps when you're studying.. right?!

Foundation: This has been my foundation of choice for a few months now, but I haven't shared it with ya'll so I thought why not throw it in with my favorites. I used this on my cousin for her wedding, and she loved it so much she bought it for herself. It gives you medium coverage but it just looks like your skin (only better ;)

Essie Polish: I've been loving this color on my toes all month long. It's basically the most perfect spring color out there..

Gimme Brow: I've been using this brow product on a daily basis, so I'm definitely going to repurchase it soon. I was worried it would be too dark on my blonde eyebrows, but I just scrap the brush against the side to lighten the amount of product. I love it because it's the easiest way to put some color into my brows and quick in the mornings when I'm rushing to class. I rarely leave the house without some brow color and mascara (the joys of having blonde hair).

What are some products you've been loving this month??

Think Before You Eat

A while ago I came across this someecard on Pinterest and I thought...brilliant!  If you've ever done a burpee (may I add, if you haven't you're seriously missing out) you will never forget how much they suck. I've been seriously lacking some gym motivation ever since my spring break fun, and with a neuroanatomy exam quickly approaching I am pinched for time to get to the gym (aka not motivated to find the time) along with stress eating. Today's Workout Wednesday post will hopefully put into perspective just how hard it is to burn bad calories. These are of course estimates (for an 130lb individual) and not meant to be taken to the extreme that if you eat one of these things you have to do this many burpees. I just hope it provides an eye-opening realization (it sure worked for me)! I used this site to help estimate the amount of burpees.

Anchor Down

My cousin is officially [ ;) ] off the market! Saturday, Megan and Dewaine tied the knot. The ceremony actually took place at The Landings Marina, one of the last locations my grandmother painted before she passed away. The day called for rain, however it ended up being a beautiful night - I can't wait to see all the pictures! Wishing you both a life filled with love & happiness!

Outfit details: Top J.Crew (old) // Skirt Francescas (old but they always have similar items) // Necklace J Crew (old) // Shoes Tory Burch (link) // Bridal Gift Tree Necklace: etsy // Mom's Coral Skirt: Dress Up Boutique

Cheers To The Weekend

Well spring break has come to an end (very sad) and it's time to get back into my routine of studying my life away again. I had a blast during my week off, including St. Patricks Day celebrations, Palm Springs with 10 classmates, and my cousins wedding (more posts to follow).

Friday afternoon  I went to the Armstrong vs Columbus softball game (I used to play ball at Columbus) but only stayed for the first game due to the gnats currently overtaking Savannah. Tim and my mom were in town for the weekend, so the evening was spent catching up at dinner at one of our favorite places downtown, Vics on the River- && it was delicious (but I can't say I've ever had bad crab cakes). Afterwards I met up with an old coworker from COACH who was in town for a bachelorette party, and as always it was good to see her!

Sunday started off with brunch at J. Christophers (are we surprised) with Tim, my mom, and aunt before they left town. After, Tim and I did the usual and shopped downtown. He treated me to a fun mint t-shirt and mug from Anthropologie, then we had lunch and headed to Bonaventure Cemetery, a site in Savannah I've always wanted to explore.

Looking forward to getting back to blogging!

Spinach Shake Without The Taste

This is one of my go-to breakfast choices when I'm rushing to school, and has been since I started last May. My classmates might think it looks gross, but I swear you can't taste the spinach! If you like chocolate and peanut butter, then heres the shake for you.

1. Add 8oz unsweetened Almond milk
2. Add 8oz water
3. Add 1 scoop protein powder. This is what I currently use
4. Optional: Add 1 scoop fibermend. Found here
5. Add 1 scoop peanut butter (this is what you actually taste!)
6. Fill the top with spinach (I usually fill it, blend, then refill it back up to the top)
7. Blend. Serve. Enjoy!

Next week is my spring break and I'm going to be a busy girl: St. Patricks Day downtown in Savannah, Daytona with 11 of my classmates, and my cousins wedding! I will be back to blogging the following week!

Until then,

Workout Wednesday- No Treadmill Needed

cardio workout, total body workout, workout, circuit, HIIT workout

It's the week before spring break, so I'm kicking my cardio routine up a notch in order for any last minute miracles to come my way :) I get extremely bored staying on the same cardio machine, and it's a miracle if I make it 30 minutes on them. I would much rather get my heart rate pumping with a circuit training routine, because it makes the time go by much faster when I'm constantly changing up the movements... plus you're toning at the same time! This routine will get you more like 40-50 minutes of cardio training. Bonus points if you finish up with abs!

Spring Break- Beach Necessities

This time next week, I will be packing up and heading to the beach with my friends for spring break! The many perks (ok might be an exaggeration) of being a 25 year old still in school..yay for 2.5 more years. [Insert exam countdown here]

Bikini: I absolutely love this style from Victoria Secret. I decided to try it on just to see what the style was about and I'm glad I did! I always find bathing suits to be so uncomfortable, but this fit and felt similar to wearing a sports bra (which is way more comfortable in my humble opinion). Plus, gotta love the ruffles!

Mirrored Sunglasses: I'm not gonna lie, I feel like a rock star when I'm wearing these glasses. My favorite color combination + aviators.. had to have them! And I think they look even better at the beach. The great news is now you can find them at all different price points…for more affordable versions click: Here, Here, Here, and I saw a purple/blue combo in stores at F21.

Donut Float: Well who wouldn't want to float around in a sprinkled donut?!

Towel: Pretty much a given beach necessity. Doesn't hurt to lay out on a cute one!

Flip-Flops: Pink and a bow and Tory. Really no further explanation is needed.

Evian Spray: I always bring a hydrating facial spray with me to the beach because it's always refreshing on my hot skin. Plus, if you happen to get a little too much sun, it's cooling on the skin and might relieve some of the pain!

Sunscreen: This is probably the most important item to bring to the beach (coming from a strawberry blonde that is..) We all know putting sunscreen on the beach basically sucks.. sticky + sand is not a good combination, but we do it because we know the consequences (skin cancer// thanks!). Coola is an organic sunscreen that contains less alcohol content than regular brands, so if you're someone who uses self tanner/ gets spray tans that's a must to preserve your faux glow.

Beach Tote: Gotta have something to carry the necessities.

Hat: I always bring a hat with me to the beach, mostly because I put it over my face to make it darker.. and therefore take that really relaxing sun nap. Plus, it helps if you like to read at the beach.. which brings me to my last item.. don don don.

Technology Wipes: This is probably something really nontraditional to include as a beach necessity, but with today's world we always have our gadgets on us. I don't know about you, but after putting sunscreen on I notice my screen gets crazy greasy, and makes it harder to read the screen. Here is the solution!

Of course, there's other beach necessities to think about: a chair, chap stick with a SPF, a football (yep I'm that girl), headphones/music, cold water to stay hydrated, snacks.. etc.

Do you have any vacations coming up??

St. Patrick's Style

Necklace // Bracelet // Polish // Shorts // Skirt // Belt // Maxi Dress // Dress // Heels // Necklace // Skirt (Fabrik- not online)

It's officially a week until St. Patricks Day, and people in Savannah are already celebrating by decorating and wearing green. It's impossible to walk into a store and not be greeted by an array of green and gold (and I'm not complaining). March is the month of green, not only because of St. Patrick, but because of the revival of nature! Yay for fresh blooms and warmer weather ahead.

Workout Wednesday- Upper Body Circuit

Since last week I focused on legs, today's workout is going to be all about the upper body. Because this is a smaller muscle group, I like to keep the tempo up to help increase my energy expenditure. With that being said, this workout should be done in a circuit, so try to keep the rest time low between exercises!

Warm up: walk on treadmill (5 mins) and stretch

Workout: I used an 8lb dumbbell for the entire circuit, only putting them down at the end for abs.

12 Arnold Press

In a static lunge position, complete the circuit: reverse fly, row, triceps kickback (10 reps)

Biceps curl into lateral raises (10 reps) - the weight was a little light for my biceps curl so I did a few more repetitions at the end till they were fatigued.

Back into the static lunge with the opposite leg, complete the same arm circuit: reverse fly, row, triceps kickback (10 reps)

Back to the biceps curl and lateral raise set (10 reps)

Abdominal exercise of choice: I did leg raises with a lift at the top

Repeat 2 more times

10 pull-ups on assisted machine (I did 5 wide grip and 5 curl grip)
10 push-ups on BOSU ball
45-60 second plank on BOSU ball
repeat 2 more times

Happy Hump Day,

Trend I'm Loving: Military

The military trend has definitely been here for a while now, or its one of those that always finds its way back into rotation. I usually think of it as a fall trend, but I've seen pieces that can easily transition you into spring.. shorts, skirts, and vests. My personal favorite is the army green with cargo pockets for a more laid back version of the trend. I think these pieces would look great paired with navy, a soft yellow, or animal print of course, but I would steer clear of neon orange for the most part.

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Here is how I styled the vest listed as #1 above (I wonder why it's number 1 :)

Basic white tunic: Forever 21// Vest: Old Navy // Scarf: J. Crew// Leggings: Lulu Lemon // Boots: Frye // Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelets: Tiffany and Co. & Stella and Dot

February Favorites

HUNTER BOOTS: I've been trying to decide on a color of Hunter boots for a few months now, and I finally picked up this pair in Lipstick. They came in on a rainy day, so it was basically meant to be. Compared to my other rain boots, these are way more comfortable (they allow more movement and the bottom feels like an insole). I'm looking forward to wearing them this upcoming spring! They are not as fuchsia in person by the way..

FORMULA X TOP COAT: As seen in my Mani Monday post, I've been absolutely loving my manicure routine.  I always end up biting my nails when I get stressed, but since painting my nails with a gel formula I can proudly saw I kicked the habit (for now). Note: the picture is the base coat..the clear top coat didn't show up well.

CONTOURING: Now I have always been a bronzer lover, but this past month I've been specifically enjoying contouring with this brush and bronzer duo. I used to be all about it, but I guess somewhere along the way I got lazy and forgot about it. Glad it's made its way back into the routine! This bronzer is great for it because it's matte, and you would have to try to make it look "muddy" on you! Brush: link // bronzer: link

BATISTE DRY SHAMPOO: I purchased this for the first time in January, and I've been obsessing over it since! It's safe to say I use it every day.. even when my hair is freshly washed. Before discovering this product, I wasn't a fan of spray dry shampoo because they made my head feel gritty and like I had helmet hair (I only tried the Tresemme one, and I preferred baby powder). However, this product completely changed my view on them! I've been using the version for blonde hair, but I will probably try out one of their scents next.

C. WONDER FLATS: I was contemplating picking these up or not, because I've been in a huge shoe phase and I need to slow it down; however, when I was in store they handed out a coupon so I couldn't say no! They are as comfortable as they are cute, and will definitely remain a favorite throughout spring. Tim is a fan of them as well, because he thought they were very "me".

CLARISONIC MIA: It's been a minute since I've used this, but my skin being in a hot mess stage led me to bust it back out.. I am happy I did. It's one of those pricey items I wouldn't buy myself, but I am thankful to have received it as a gift a few years back. I keep it in my shower and use it only a few times per week because I find my skin is too sensitive for daily use.. maybe I will build up my tolerance.

LIP COMBO: I picked up this BUXOM lip gloss from Sephora as a 100 point perk, and it will probably be one of the handful of items I'll be going back to purchase in the full size. I like the cool/tingle feeling you notice after applying, and it isn't an annoying/overly sticky lip gloss. I've been pairing it with a MAC lip liner from an old collection (To the Beach, anyone?), but it's just a typical baby pink liner that you can find from any brand. Lip liner: link // lip gloss: link

Looks like lots of pink, but hey.. it was February! What were some of your February faves?
